Nissan is recalling the 2021 Rogue after learning that the rear brake calipers might be missing bushings.

The automaker's brake supplier says one of their technicians forgot to install the bushings. Whoops! Without them, the caliper's O-ring will eventually move and allow brake fluid to leak out and potentially short-circuit electrical components. Nissan selected 80 SUVs to audit after learning about the problem and 28 were missing the part.…

Nissan says they put the wrong wheel nuts on a small number of 2021 Rogues.

Nissan says error code P0087 could be a sign your Altima is about to go up in flames

which is problematic. That's why they're recalling the 2019 model year to prevent possible fuel leaks and, subsequently, possible fires.

The automaker learned that retainer clips meant to hold the low-pressure fuel lines onto the high-pressure fuel pumps weren’t locked into position during manufacturing. That’ll likely cause fuel to leak out and error code P0087 to trigger the check engine light. Of course, you might not notice the light since you’re too distracted by the wall of flames where your car once sat.

Nissan is recalling 341,000 Altima sedans for the second time to stop the rear doors from unlatching when the windows are rolled down.

The door’s latch-lock cable is interfering with the window regulator and previous attempts to re-route the cable didn’t work.

Nissan’s new plan involves a different route for the cable and harness clips to keep everything in place. Whoever came up with the first plan should be shown the door.

I have some choice words for Nissan’s anti-lock brake actuator pump.

And yes, I realize that is an odd thing to say, but hear me out. The pump leaks brake fluid onto internal circuit boards which starts fires. And it’s been a problem more than once.

The pumps were first recalled back in 2016. However the seals used to “fix” the leak have failed and now the pumps have been recalled again.

Nissan is even worried enough to ask owners of the 2015-2017 Murano, 2016-2017 Maxima, 2017-2018 Pathfinder and the 2017 Infiniti QX60 vehicles to park their cars outside and away from things you wouldn’t like to see turned to ash.

Maybe I should direct my choice words at Nissan instead.

Certain Nissan vehicles are shutting themselves off while driving

thanks to busted ball springs in the ignition switch, with a hearty assist from heavy keychains.

In August 2017, the ignition switch supplier (Alpha Technology Corp.) told Nissan a problem occurred during manufacturing of the ignition switch ball springs. New tests were created for the ignition switches and how they would function on rough roads during vibrations of the vehicles.

Tests concluded that those ball springs are giving out way too early. And without springs to support the weight of heavy key chains bouncing around on bumpy roads, the ignition is slipping itself from the “on” to “accessory” position.

To make sure drivers don’t suddenly find themselves cruising down the highway with their radios on and their engines off, Nissan is recalling over 150,000 vehicles.

If this all sounds familiar you might be thinking of Chevrolet’s long nightmare with faulty ignition switches. In fact, maybe now is a good time to mention the Chevrolet City Express has found its way into an otherwise all Nissan lineup of recalled vehicles. Seems like more than a coincidence.

The one key difference is that Nissan’s airbag systems have an electrical capacity reserve, which means they should still stay on even with the ignition in the “accessory” position. Chevy owners weren’t so lucky.

Anyone else remember what the world felt like before all these Takata recalls?

I’m starting to forget considering the first one came all the way back in May of 2013. I’m pretty sure the air smelled sweeter, the birds all sang in harmony, and I didn’t cry overtime I heard a word ending in “ata.”

Anyway, I guess these batch recalls are our new reality. Nissan announced they’re pulling back 53,000 Versa sedans and hatchbacks to replace the passenger-side airbag inflators.

Takata has been in the news a lot lately, and none of it has been good – more confirmed casualties and stop-driving orders have prompted questions from our much-maligned Senators. Ooo, I have a question – what the heck took them so long?

Ugh, Takata – amirite?

The automakers are sick of it. I'm sick of it. I sure as heck know you're sick of it too. But here we are – staring down another recall of 152,000 Nissan and Infiniti vehicles.

By now I'm guessing you've heard about the dangers of Takata airbags, but here's a quick recap:

1. Over time Takata airbag inflators are susceptible to moisture.
2. When that moisture mixes with the airbag's propellant, the inflators become unstable and can explode sending shrapnel throughout the cabin.
3. The problem is responsible for 11 deaths in the USA alone.

Mazda has now recalled more than 1 million vehicles for this problem. Find out if yours is on the most recent list.

The Altima has doors that are opening when they shouldn't, such as when you go to roll down the window.

And it appears to be due to a mistake on the manufacturing line. Looks like some is going to be shown the door:

"During the Altima [door] trim panel installation, a latch-lock cable inside the door was not routed correctly ... [and] the cable can interfere with the window regulator and will inadvertently unlatch the door when the window is opened."

Nissan will recall 341,000 model year 2015-2017 Altimas to fix the issue.

Well, that didn't take long.

The 2017 Nissan Versa has been recalled because of problems with the side-curtain airbags-and-seat-belts. Airbag supplier Autoliv was conducting routine testing in August when a side curtain airbag tore during deployment. After contacting Nissan about the malfunction, engineers determined the reinforcement stitching on the airbags may not properly secure two fabric sections of the curtain airbags.

--- the reinforcement stitching in the airbags sent to Nissan wasn't securing the airbag properly. The improper stitching is enough to cause the airbag to tear at the sewn seam when the airbag deploys.

Nissan checked federal regulations to see if the problem was bad enough to order a recall, and although changes were made during assembly, the automaker said a recall was necessary. The recall affects any 2017 Nissan Versa built between 08/01/2016 and 08/16/2016.

Interestingly, the 2012 Versa is under investigation for side curtain airbags that deploy when it's not wanted. Apparently Nissan and Autoliv haven't heard of the Goldilocks Principle.

Have you ignored a dashboard warning light? I wouldn't blame you.

I was once charged $100 to turn off a light because my stupid gas cap was loose. But Nissan is pleading – if you see a warning light in certain vehicles you need to park your car and walk away because of fire risks.

"Nissan is recalling more than 120,000 cars and SUVs to repair brake fluid leaks that may cause circuit boards to catch on fire. Worldwide, the automaker says about 134,000 are recalled, including almost 11,000 in Canada."

The recalled vehicles include:

• 2016-2017 Maxima (w/ intelligent cruise control)
• 2015-2017 Murano (w/ intelligent cruise control)
• 2015-2016 Nissan Murano Hybrids

Nissan is recalling 2016 Sentras that stall while driving.

Of course, that won't be a problem for some of you since many of the same Sentras can't start at all. Nissan says in April the automaker discovered a Sentra that wouldn't start during an inspection at the assembly plant. The automaker opened an investigation which showed a problem with a harness terminal pin.

The recalled Sentras were built between April 11, 2016 and April 26, 2016.

More than 1,500 Sentras have an engine harness that can lose its connection to the electronic control unit (ECU).

As any cable company tech representative would tell you on the phone _have you tried plugging it back in again?

"The engine room harness supplier, Yazaki, identified an oversized diameter continuity check pin had caused a permanent change of the shape of one of the harness terminal pins. The shape of the pin was too large to maintain a connection to the engine control unit, resulting in a poor connection."

The recalled Sentras were built between 4/11/2016 and 04/26/2016.

Nissan is recalling 402,000 vehicles, mostly Infiniti vehicles, with dangerous Takata airbag inflators.

This latest round of recalls has been split into what the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is calling "zones" across the country.

Takata's metal inflators are at risk of exploding because they don't contain a drying agent called desiccate. Over time, the ammonium nitrate inside the inflator can become unstable when exposed to heat and humidity. If they do explode during an airbag deployment, metal shrapnel shoots throughout the cabin, injuring or killing the people inside.

Nissan, like other automakers, doesn't have enough replacement parts to fix their vehicles. This is the largest recall in US history with 70 million cars affected and parts are scarce.

Owners should get an initial recall notice in the mail, and then another when parts become available.

The Rogue's rear lift-gate has "stays" that are supposed to keep the lift-gate in place when you open it.

Only, they aren't staying at all.

So not only do you have to try and load the groceries while keeping your kid from running in the parking lot, but you might have to dodge falling doors while you're at it:

"The rear lift gate stay provides power assist to the rear lift gate and operates under high pressure gas. If the anti-corrosion coating is insufficient (there can be) a sudden release of pressure. The rear lift gate suddenly falling down can cause severe injuries to anyone near the gate."

This has happened in enough 2014-16 Rogue's to warrant a recall. The affected vehicles were built between July 31, 2013, and January 16, 2016.

Anyone else getting the feeling there's a major issue with Nissan's Occupant Classification System (OCS)?

For roughly the 103rd time – ok, 4th – Nissan is recalling their defective OCS. And this one is a doozy at 3.8 million vehicles.

"Nissan says the occupant classification systems in the front passenger seats can turn off because the systems classify an adult as a child or classify a seat as empty even if an adult is in the seat."

That will disable the airbags for someone who really needs it.

"Nissan says in the case of a child classification, the system is designed to illuminate the airbag light indicating the airbag is turned off. However, if the initial classification is “empty seat,” the light will not illuminate and there is no indication that the airbag is suppressed."

Does any part of this thing work?

Nissan has been accused of covering up the OCS issue and issuing repairs that didn't work in a lawsuit.

Frontier owners, this should spark your interest.

Nissan is recalling the 2016 Frontier because electrical shorts could start a fire. More than 1,550 Frontier V6 trucks have problems concerning the starter motor wire harness that could make contact with the heat shield. The contact can cause an electrical short in the area of the wire harness, possibly resulting in a fire.

The recall was expected to begin in April 2016.
